I’m normally not a big fan of long speeches. President Trump made this one seem not so long.

1. He didn’t over labor his accomplishments like he often does. To the point. Heard it all before, but short enough to not lose me. Well done.

2. He gave credit across the board, highlighting those who carried out his policies to their successful ends. A great leader knows he is great in large part because of who he is leading. Hands out gold public recognition. Well done.

3. My favorite. The sheer number of Americans he honored was to me the most compelling part of the evening. The victims. The survivors. The heroes. I always say the American spirit is unique. It is dynamic at its core. His guests were the very heart of what is the greatness produced in the lives of those whose freedom has molded their souls. Our peculiar fundamentals allow and promote incredible acts of heroism, courage, love, persistence, mercy and fortitude. We are not the same. We are Americans. President Trump’s guests made me remember that with a renewed pride.

4. He called out democrats for the insane outcomes they seem to think are popular. Gender mutilation. Open borders. Sanctuary jurisdictions. Soft on crime. Big, centralized government. There were more.

In summary, this was a master class production with a balanced approach to what he’s done, what he’s going to do, who helped him get there, and highlighting the goodness and even greatness in the people he is clearly honored to lead.

I’ve already seen some of the DNC Media summaries. They seem like not only did someone swat their hornets nest with a stick, but they’ve been thrown into the nearest creek and they’re trying to climb back to dry land not really able to swim, walk or fly. They’re already cherrypicking sound bites to fit their regular hate Trump messaging drama.

My review of the Spanberger response to follow.

All in all it was a great night for the President and a great night for America. Music you can dance to. If you’re not a Democrat.
